Downloading an Asset Document
Note: In order to download an asset file, the role of the logged-in user must include edit or read-only access to the Asset Documents feature.
When an asset contains an uploaded file, you may view the file by downloading it to your computer. To download an asset file to your computer, refer to the following steps.
- Open the Asset form for an asset.
- Click the Documents tab to bring this portion of the form to the front.
- In the Documents portion of the form, in the File grid, click the Download icon to the right of the file that you want to download.
- A Downloading message appears onscreen, to notify you that the file is being downloaded.
- Depending on the Internet browser being used, a message appears asking you if you want to keep, save, or view the downloaded file.
- Firefox: a message appears; asking you to select what Firefox should do with the file (Open with or Save File). After you select either to open the file or save it, the file is downloaded to the computer and is available via the Downloads folder. The Downloads icon will show the most recently downloaded file or files in a small panel.
- Chrome: the file is downloaded to the computer and is available via the Downloads folder. The downloaded file or files will be displayed along the bottom of the screen. You may view the file by clicking the arrow beside the downloaded file and selecting Open from the menu options that appear.
- Internet Explorer: the file is downloaded to the computer and available via the Downloads folder. A message bar appears along the bottom of the screen. You are asked if you want to Open or Save the file or Cancel it.
